Animal Farm Blog #3

Blog #3 The story is set on a farm where the animals overthrow their human farmer, Mr. Jones. So far, from the beggining to the last pages that I read, I predict that some animals will betray the original principal and the animals' condition worsen. The pigs started to act like the humans themselves due to their needs. The characters that I have encountered so far are: 1. Napoleon : acts as the leader (act for his own benefits) 2. Snowball : he was overthrown (loyal) 3. Old Major : he died (good leader)

“Animal Farm” by George Orwell (Chapter 1-3) Blog no.1

The most interesting thing that I have read from the very first few pages from the book was: - Old Major’s Speech - Farm Animals’ rebellion against Mr Jones - The establishment of Animal Farm Old major’s speech inspired the animals to go against Mr Jones. After the rebellion, Mr Jones ran away and the animals were able to establish their own Animal Farm. The animals were able to write little by little because they observed Mr Jones and Mrs Jones when they’re doing it.  In my opinion, it’s a interesting book as it lets readers to imagine what’s going on in the story.

The Graveyard Book

My first impression when reading the books was about Bod. In the sentence “ Ever since the child had learned to walk he had been his mother’s and father’s despair and delight, for there never was such a boy for wandering, for climbing up things, for getting into and out of things.” (Page 10, line 21-24) it makes me think that Bod was a smart and talented boy.  After reading through the story though, I feel that Bod’s life was pretty sad. His whole family was killed and now he has to live with the people that live in the graveyard also known as the dead people. However, he has a really great family. Great and supportive parents and caring guardians. His guardians are the one that thought him how to read and write, geography, etc.  As the years grow, his life however became more lonely. His guardians had to go more often, his friend had to leave the country. It was all sad for him to go through that phase alone. However, I also see that he is an adventurous kid. He doesn’t like ...

The Graveyard Books: identifying the techniques that the author uses

The words that the author uses to make a scary story uses words like bone, blade, shadow. The line that shows that the author uses the imagery technique is “ The knife had a handle of polished black bone, and a blade finer than any razor.” The author uses the senses technique. An example of that technique is “The man Jack sniffed the air.” which shows that he is using his nose to smell. Another example is “It was not until the police sirens sounded and first a police car, then an ambulance, then an unmarked police car with a siren blaring, sped past him on their way up the hill that, reluctantly, the man Jack turned up the collar of his coat, put his head down, and walked off into the morning.” This is an example of using the sense, sight. He uses his eyes to see. “I’m safe too.” is an example of using the technique: sentences length and structure. This can show that the author is trying to emphasize that phrase. An example of adjectives are obedient, quite and satisfied, etc. An examp...
